At PepsiCo Foods Canada (PFC), we are committed to growth but there is one key area of our business that we have been striving to reduce for many years: our footprint on the planet. We are on a journey to reduce our environmental impact, a journey of environmental sustainability.
PFC has been pursuing sustainability efforts in our operations for well over a decade. Our pursuit of sustainable operations began with the introduction of employee-based Green Teams across all PFC manufacturing facilities in the early ‘90s. The goal of these teams was to raise employee awareness across all sites and levels and ensure compliance with federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. As the teams became more sophisticated in expertise and process, the journey evolved from “compliance”, to “conservation”. Today PFC Green Teams focus on efforts that will benefit both the company and the environment.
Our sustainability vision is bold, and clear; it is to “Leave No Trace.” We aspire to operate our entire business and supply chain in a manner that leaves a minimal environmental footprint.
It is our efforts and actions that exemplify our commitment to our employees, our consumers and stakeholders. As a result of these efforts in Canada and internationally, PepsiCo was named the #1 ranked Food and Beverage Company in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index,(<- click to read more) and PFC specifically was recently named one of the Top 50 Socially Responsible Companies in Canada by Maclean’s Magazine.
